How to Turn Shatter Into Vape Juice

Vape Juice

In the last few years, vaping has grown from a small group of people to a major product that has converted a lot of traditional smokers of cigarettes and pipes. You can’t go far now without seeing a vape juice store selling all flavors imaginable. However, if you are concerned about what goes into your vape juice, then there are some home recipes that can help you create your own. Here is a quick and easy way to turn shatter into vape juice

What is a Concentrate?

Before you begin creating your own vaping juice, you need to understand the products involved. The main ingredient is the concentrate itself, which has the main components that you want.

The concentrate is essentially the best parts of what you need, without all the parts you don’t want. In the same way that orange juice concentrate has the taste and goodness, but without the pulp and the skin. The concentrate is usually created in a manual process that allows much of the goodness to remain. However, there is another process that uses a solvent which creates an extract.

Types of Concentrate

There are many types of concentrate that can be used in different ways. Any of these can be used to create vaping juice, though they will react differently during the process. Usually, they will each dissolve at different temperatures, so this might be a consideration when you choose the type of concentrate you want to use.

Here are a few of the different types of concentrate:

  • Budder or Badder

This type of concentrate has a butter-like consistency that makes it easier to melt. It is generally easier to work with as you can get a more precise amount.

  • Shatter

Shatter is a brittle substance that looks a little like glass or hard caramel. However, there are types that are more like soft toffee.

  • Crumble

Generally similar to badder, it is slightly harder and more crumbly. It also has a duller and more matt finish.

  • Sauce

As the name implies, the sauce is a liquid-like consistency but has a crystalline quality to it. It is usually quite thick but can be melted fairly easily.

  • Crystalline

These are crystals that can range in size from small rocks to a powder. They are usually white in color and slower to melt.

These different types of concentrate are often used as part of the smoking process, but they are also ideal for creating vape juice.

Making the Mixing Juice

Part of the recipe calls for the use of a mixing liquid. This liquid stops the concentrate from hardening once it’s melted, and makes it easier to vaporize. Although you can buy this mixing solution ready-made, you can also make it at home.

You’ll need:

  • Propylene glycol
  • Vegetable glycerin

The best ratio for the mixture is 50:50 or 80:20 and is also the safest preparation.

Quick Recipe

There are a few ways that you can create your own vaping juice, however, this is the quickest method. The end result will be a less potent juice, but with more flavor than the slower methods.

You’ll need:

  • ½ gram or more of shatter or another concentrate
  • A shot glass or another small glass
  • Metal dab tool or paperclip
  • A syringe for filling the cartridges
  • Mixing solution
  1. Add the concentrate into the shot glass
  2. Add the mixing solution in a ratio of 1 ml to 1 gram of concentrate
  3. Microwave the mixture in the glass for 10 seconds
  4. Stir the mixture until the concentrate dissolves. Depending on the type of concentrate you use, this can take anywhere from 30 seconds to a couple of minutes
  5. Use a syringe to draw up the liquid and transfer it to the cartridges
  6. Leave the oil for around 15 minutes. This will allow it to cool and soak the wick or coils

At the end of the process, after the concentrate has dissolved, you can add some flavoring. You need to use natural terpenes for your flavor and you can use whichever you prefer.

Although the process might look a little tricky, after the first couple of tries, you will be able to turn your shatter into vape juice in no time at all.
