Anthony Vargas: Experience Gets the Job Done

There is a great deal that the LSA can do to advocate for law student needs with the administration at BC Law and at Boston College in general, and it is important to understand that the LSA does so with a variety of logistical, budgetary, and bureaucratic restraints on a regular basis. The best person to lead the LSA is not the candidate making the most promises to the student body, but the person equipped with the knowledge, experience, and track record to be an effective president. I am the best qualified candidate for the position of LSA president because I have the most nuanced understanding of how the LSA functions and how to accomplish the most given those realities.

For two years, I have had the privilege of serving the student body on the LSA’s Elected Board as both a 1L Rep and a 2L Rep

Candidate Statement: Frank Zonars

Eagleionline received the following statement from Frank Zonars, Candidate for Law Students Association (LSA) Secretary. Eagleionline thanks Frank for his submission (and Dylan Hayre and Peter Foundas before him)Date, and encourages all candidates to post their press releases, platforms, links to Facebook pages, advertisements and the like on Eagleionline to help the student body make a more informed choice about their elected representatives during the 2010-11 academic year.

I’m Frank Zonars and I ask for your vote this week for LSA Secretary!

If you don’t care much about the LSA, skip straight to my persuasive campaign video:

If you DO care about the LSA, read my statement:

I want every student at BCLS to feel that they have a voice.  As an undergrad I felt disconnected from my university, and I don’t want my classmates at BC to feel that way.  Even though most of us are more concerned with exams and finding jobs than the LSA, all students should feel that they can have a voice in the day-to-day life of the law school.

As a 1L rep, I strove to make sure that Section 2’s voice was heard.  I was proud to be involved in

Candidate Statement: Peter Foundas

Eagleionline received the following statement from Peter Foundas, Candidate for Law Students Association (LSA) Treasurer. Eagleionline thanks Peter for his submission (and Dylan Hayre before him)Date, and encourages all candidates to post their press releases, platforms, links to Facebook pages, advertisements and the like on Eagleionline to help the student body make a more informed choice about their elected representatives during the 2010-11 academic year.

My name is Peter Foundas and I hope to serve the BC Law community next year as Treasurer of the LSA. Basically the Treasurer is responsible for insuring all LSA funds are being spent appropriately. However in addition to that I see the position as one that presents a unique opportunity to not only insure transparency as to how the LSA spends its money, but also to hold the administration accountable to the students, the real stakeholders in the school, as to how the school allocates its resources. I want to work with next year’s board to insure every dollar of tuition is being spent wisely, and to marshal all the resources of the LSA to help keep BC Law attractive to employers from all fields: big firms, public interest and government.

I have had the privilege as serving as

MAGUIRE to LSA: Its not your wall, its the People's wall

As many know, I am running in a special election for the 2L seat against the LSA political machine.

Despite a year-long lack of responsiveness to the interests of Centre Street, the LSA emailed me this morning within minutes of BCLS opening for business. They claimed my fliers were in non-designated spots, and soon after, ripped them down. Most were destroyed, a few others were stuffed (in unusable condition) into my mailbox. In total, I estimate that 30 hilariously critical posters were removed.
