LexisNexis Rewards > Westlaw Rewards
Legal research rewards are a wonderful thing. Us students receive points, that we can in turn cash in for rewards, for simply doing research that we would do anyways. And it’s a win/win situation because LexisNexis and Westlaw want us to really learn their specific tool(s) so we’ll continue using them when we enter the work world.
Although some, perhaps even most, students do not cash in their points — I’m here to tell you that you should! And most definitely your LexisNexis points.
Why are LexisNexis rewards better than the offerings of Westlaw Rewards? Two words: gift cards! Some of the more enticing gift cards include Amazon, Starbucks, and iTunes.
Not only are the variety of offerings from LexisNexis better, but the substantive point requirements seem to be a much better deal as well. For example, if you have 1800 points — you could get a $25 Amazon giftcard for 1612 points (and have some points left over) on LexisNexis. On Westlaw, that same 1800 points would get you such items as a Champion Hooded Sweatshirt or AM/FM survival radio. Exactly, LexisNexis Rewards > Westlaw Rewards.

WE students receive points…anyWAY.
Lexis Nexis needs to have better deals on Rewards points to get anyone to use it.
Westlaw FTW.
I was very disappointed by Westlaw’s selection (or lack thereof). The best merchandise I could find was a bunch of crappy DVDs. A gift card would have been much better.
