The Federalist Society is sponsoring a debate on Tuesday, March 31st at 12:30 in East Wing 115A. Free lunch will be served starting at 12:15.

Selecting Judges: What’s Best for Democracy? will feature a debate between the Honorable Danielle Coté of the Court of Québec and Jed Shugerman, Assistant Professor of Law at Harvard Law School. The debate will be moderated by BC Law Professor George Brown, who has written on this topic (49 WMMLR 1543 on Westlaw). They will discuss the various methods used to select judges, including various kinds of judicial elections, legislative panels, and executive selections. It should be a remarkable discussion.
